Common,
but localised, winter migrant and passage migrant. The peak count was of 400 to roost on the Nene Washes on 1 Jan, with 200 there on 8 Jan (JT). The large numbers at Prior’s Fen GP towards the end of 2002 remained into the New Year, with 361 there on 5 Jan (SPD), falling to 145+ by 21 Apr (SPD, KAF). The next highest count was of 15 at Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR on 1 Feb (PT). |

Common,
but localised, winter migrant and passage migrant. In the first half of the year, notable concentrations were seen at Dogsthorpe Tip with 50 on 28 Feb and 45 at Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR on 3 May (BHS). Later in the year, a minimum of 30 were at Fletton BP on 31 Oct (SPD), with 75 at Dogsthorpe Tip on 10 Nov (JT) and an impressive 327 at Prior’s Fen GP on 8 Dec (SPD). No counts received from roost sites, eg. Nene Washes or Orton BP. |

but localised, winter migrant and passage migrant. Single birds reported from many sites throughout the year, but notable concentrations included 180 on the Nene Washes RSPB reserve 15 Jan (RSPB), 200+ at Dogsthorpe Tip 6 Nov, with 300+ there 27 Dec (BHS) and 400+ at Orton BP 30 Dec (BHS). |

Uncommon
winter visitor and migrant. There was a scattering of single records, but more notable concentrations on the Nene Washes of 64 on 10 Mar, 22 on 19 Nov and 25 on 18 Dec. There were 89 at Dogsthorpe Tip 18 Nov, 80 on 2 Jan, 198 at Orton BP 16 Nov and an exceptional 250 at Dogsthorpe Tip on 27 Dec. |

Uncommon
winter visitor and migrant. Low numbers recorded from several widely-spread sites during the winter months. Peak counts included six at Deeping High Bank 28 Dec (BT) and no more than 15 at Dogsthorpe Tip. |

Common winter visitor, migrant. The only record received from outside the Nene Washes was of a third-summer bird at Baston & Langtoft GP on 2 May (AFB). Nene Washes: Up to 30 roosted through February and March. Up to six first-summer birds were around through May, but there were no further sightings until November, when occasional birds fed near the tidal Nene. Up to 12 roosted in December, |
